gelding

"Stevie" is an extremely well-mannered, friendly, curious, intelligent, easy-going, and engaging young gelding. His pedigree and current growth suggest that he will reach 14.2 hands when he finishes growing. Stevie is respectful and well-socialized with other horses and with people. He was raised here on our farm with dogs at his heels and has never once had any problems, and he is accustomed to daily handling and has no issues with haltering or leading. Stevie is well grounded in trailering and longeing, and he stands well for the vet and farrier. His feet and overall health have been carefully monitored from birth, and his wolf teeth have been done. Stevie was shown in hand at the Lippitt Country Show as both a weanling and a yearling, where he placed second (in 2006) and first (in 2007) respectively; his behavior in the show ring is generally very good. He has begun training under saddle and is making terrific progress; although we were initially intending to train him to harness, his trainer has advised us to focus him on comprehensive dressage training, and we expect to begin entering him in shows this fall. He is a willing student and will doubtless be a solid performer with the right rider. We feel he has great potential as a show horse, a pleasure riding horse, a driving horse, or all three. We offer him for sale with great regret due to the need to limit our herd's size.

Sale by private treaty.

A note about our philosophy about selling our horses:

We breed these horses with the intention of selling them. However, our horses' health is of primary concern to us. A committed horse owner keeps close tabs on his or her horse's diet, respiratory health, coat, and last but certainly not least, its feet. This entails a great deal of time, attention, and effort. Sadly, there have been all too many instances of horse neglect in recent years.  We will sell our herd's progeny to those buyers who are committed to the welfare of their horse, with preference for those who support the continuity of the Lippitt Morgan. Which is not to say we won't sell to people who aren't already horse owners, but to people looking to buy their first horse, we offer this note of caution: If you aren't sure that you can handle the work involved in caring for a horse, don't buy one! For first-time buyers, leasing a horse prior to buying might be a better option to make sure that you're ready for the commitment entailed. We are willing to consider leasing arrangements as well as purchases, so please inquire if you are interested.
