BAYSIDE RAINMAN
(Ryegate Billy Moro x
Woodstock Joan)
1993 dark bay stallion
We chose Bayside Rainman (owned by Sandra Nason Sewell
of New Brunswick) as the sire of our first Holy Moly foal. Although "Dusty" is an accomplished athlete who won the
Justin Morgan Standard Class and other honors, he had sired only one foal at that time—a colt, Shadowmere Maximus, who
sadly did not survive more than a few months. Not wanting to see this handsome son of Ryegate Billy Moro fail to pass on his
classic conformation and gentle disposition, we bred Dusty to our two mares, Ryegate Magi Moro and Holy Moly Meadow Mist,
for 2008 foals. Unfortunately, Maggie's pregnancy was terminated due to an infection, and we lost Mist's filly to
a tragic accident—but we'd already bred SSM Bessie Nekomia to Dusty in June of 2008, so for now we're pinning
our hopes on Bessie's foal in 2009. I hope some day to bring Mist back for another try, because their daughter was a beautiful
filly at the time of her death, and it's a cross that deserves to live on!
